data.relic
Visitors’ choices about humans and AI, etched into travertine.
An opinion with weight
I conceived data.relic with the artists’ collective SPLACES for “Humans and Neural Networks: Who is the Creator?”. We wanted visitors’ answers to leave a physical trace, rather than disappear into a chart.
The vote becomes the sculpture
Visitors chose between humans and AI in different aspects of life. Sandblasting machines translated their choices into marks on travertine. Over the exhibition, the votes changed the sculpture’s form: an accumulating record of how people felt about technology at that moment.

A shared artifact
My contribution was the artwork concept and interaction mechanics, developed with SPLACES. The material made the premise tangible: individual choices gradually become something collective, visible and difficult to undo.
The project’s public record reports more than four million answers in a month, with 67% favouring humans and 33% favouring neural networks. These are answers across different questions, rather than a count of individual visitors.
