Humans and Neural Networks: Who is the Creator?
An exhibition that makes our relationship with AI tangible.
Begin with a question
Are neural networks our tools, collaborators or competitors? I developed the name and concept for a Yandex and Tretyakov Gallery project that asked artists and visitors to explore that question. Eleven artists created ten works following a two-week art laboratory.
One idea, several ways in
I led the creative thread across the open call, exhibition, film and digital experience. I wrote the manifesto and supporting texts, including nine dilemmas with no prescribed correct answer. Visitors could form a position rather than receive a brand’s verdict.
In the gallery and online
The exhibition welcomed around 35,000 visitors. The separate online experience recorded 1.53 million entries; over 409,000 people completed it. One of the works, data.relic, took those questions into physical form: a collective opinion carved into stone.
